A couple of question for successful entrepreneurs.?

A lot of entrepreneurs that I talk to tell me that "a college degree is nice if you want to work for someone else". Some of these entrepreneurs are successful, and some not so much. My question to the entrepreneurs out there who opened their own business and are making a profit are A)What are your views on attaining a college degree. B) What type of business did you open and at what age C) What type of higher education, if any did you recieve and D) How did you finance the opening of your business (ie. savings, loans, etc.)

A.) Does not hurt to have it and can add credibility, but is not necessary, business courses are best
B.)mechanical repair and maintenance, 37
C.)had two bachlors by the time I opened it and found that the business courses were useful
D.)I worked a paying job for 5 years while my huband/partner built the business. However, we seem to be in a dysfunctional market since a particular competitor can low ball prices without going out of business. Our prices are higher and operation is similar, yet we are having difficulty making a profit. We have not been able/ and may never be able to finger the exact reason why this competitor is able to do this. Since we don’t plan on selling drugs, or being a money laudering operation, we may have to pull out of the market if we don’t see a change.
