http://www.krishnade.com Despite the fact that more than 58% of Irish graduates are women, women make up less than 5% of the top management of companies and only represent 30% of European entrepreneurs. The Ambassadors programme is an initiative of the European Commission to highlight and promote women entrepreneurs as a key to economic growth and job creation.
The four newly selected entrepreneurship ambassadors for the Dublin area are Grainne Byrne from gbc Public Relations, Nicola Byrne from 11890, Triona Campbell from CR Entertainment and Krishna De from Biz Growth Media. These businesswomen are all leaders in their field and have been selected to provide insight as advisors to future female entrepreneurs.
The network was officially launched on 15 December 2009 by An Tánaiste and Enterprise Minister Mary Coughlan TD who said: “I hope this initiative will encourage women to consider starting up their own businesses. These extraordinary women are ideal role models for other women to emulate.”
Eddie McVeigh of the European Commission Representation in Ireland explained that though this network the EU hopes to inspire women of all ages who may want to start a company but may lack the confidence to do so.
In the Leinster region the European Network of Female Entrepreneurs Initiative will be coordinated by Dublin Chamber of Commerce.
Dublin Chamber is member of the Irish Enterprise Europe Network and as such can provide advices and support on EU matters to local SMEs.
