After saving enough money, Jessica followed her passion and took a risk by starting up her own jewellery-making business. Not only does she make and sell her own necklaces, bracelets and rings, but the business also functions as a training provider offering courses for people who would like to design and make their own jewellery.
Jessica has found work experience highly beneficial in helping her to learn the trade and organise her business. Such is the success of the jewellery school, she now employs an assistant and is considering moving to a bigger studio.

as soon as i turn 18, i’m planning on starting a business. i’ll also be going to school to get a business degree, but i’d like to open a business while i’ve still young and ambitious. 
i’m currently working on a business plan, so any information you have about getting books, how to compete with "big bookstores", or any other helpful information would be much appreciated!
I admire you for being almost 18 and wanting to go into business. I have been in business for over 30 years and love it. I recommend you first complete Note "complete" your business degree. Many people go to college but only a few finish. You will benefit greatly from a completed business degree.
I have over 3000 books.
I suggest if you are going to beat the big stores you will have to specialize. e.g. sell used religious books, childrens books, novels, ghost stories, authors,etc. Collect and sell used books in different catagories, specialize.
Start out slow and small. Buy small lots in different catagories sell them on e-bay etc. If a catagory of book sells buy more in that catagory. Go slow, take your time and learn the business and what sells. Don’t over buy.

I’m 25, and really, really want to start my own business. I want a company with a really meaty idea – something I can sink my teeth into. The problem is, I’m very creative and feminine, and have focused all of my interests in the performing arts and shopping basically. (ie – Opera, playing the violin, ballet, learning piano, ballroom dancing, tap dancing, musical theater, shopping, clothes, and makeup). Even in college, I studied opera and now I currently work for an opera company on the administrative end of things.
Any suggestions?
Since you’ve listed the areas you are interested in why not start a business there. Most businesses start very small. You can start by teaching kid’s to play instruments. Volunteer to help a grade school music teacher with a concert. Explain to her that you teach kid’s to play musical instruments and you would like to volunteer some time in exchange for a chance to meet kid’s that want more than the school can provide. You don’t have to spend money advertising this way and if the first teacher likes you try helping at other grade schools and keep building your clientel. You can do something similar with dance. You can build this up as big as you want.

2) Check out http://www.YouTube.com to watch the existing trailer for the upcoming YES movie at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVBOLLuqw4M, check out what other young entrepreneurs are posting to know what you are up against. Also dont forget to rate and comment.
3) Create a short video that would be: 30 seconds or less telling us about yourself and why you could be the next spotlighted young entrepreneur on our website. Show and tell us about yourself and accomplishments. Keep in mind, since this will be for public viewing, no curse words or explicit content is allowed. We’re all for edgy though, so take some risks and have some fun!
4) When you post your video to YouTube, please send an e-mail to our Contest Director at Kyle Clouse at Kyle@YoungEntrepreneurSociety.com, and you will receive an email conformation letting you know of your entry’s acceptance into the contest. Please put “The YES Movie YouTube Contest” in the e-mail subject line. Each submission should include the user name, title of the video so that we can track views, phone number and address. You must also post our website URL “www.theYESmovie.com” for 5 seconds at the end of your video.
5) All submissions to YouTube must be posted by January 30, 2009. Remember, the film is in post production right now, so time is of the essence. The sooner you post your video, the more “views” you have the opportunity to garner. Winners will be notified via e-mail or phone, if provided, during the first week of February.
6) The producer of the video with the most viewings by 5:00 p.m. on January 30th, 2008 will have their video appear on our website.

I am 20 years old and attending a community college here in Florida. I am taking courses to obtain my business administration degree but my ultimate goal is to own my own business. I wanted to jump into a business venture but I realize that it would be best if I attended school and obtained a degree. My thing is that everyday I wish that I was done with school and I was running my own business but I know that it will only come in time. I want to be involved in a business and get some first hand experience while I am still in school. I have stressed the resources at my school ad have attended chamber of commerce meetings but still have not been presented any opportunities to do so. Does anybody have any suggestions or resources for me? Thanks
Start a low cost, low risk business that you can dictate how much time you put into it. The Team is a MLM on steroids because it’s the best out and it’s changing all other MLM’s. The have the best SYSTEM out to date. and the best thing of all it has the best educational system. It will teach you what business school can’t……….the HOW to run a business and not theory.
