I’ve done virtuous things, but the local government sure didn’t help me make money. For instance I used to teach English to refugees for free. Now I go around picking up litter and putting the trash in the trash and making sure the recyclables get recycled. Nobody pays me for it, and I’m not embarassed because it’s like I’m the invisible man.

Maybe I don’t get enough credit for what I do. I need a bull horn, but the local government won’t even pay for that.

For transition year we need to come up with a business plan all of us in our group,i am having a little trouble with my own business plan as many peoples ideas sound way different to mine so i havent mentioned mine to class mates yet incase they think im an idiot.

For my plan im thinking of a portable carbon monoxide detector.As many of you all know carbon monoxide is a silent killer so therefore people say like Tourists! when on holiday there hotel room could have carbon monoxide inside there and kill them! so i was thinking if people could have portable monoxide detectors which could be used as a keychain which makes it easy to carry around it could save lives?as in Ireland about last year two ladies died in cork in a hotel room due to carbon monoxide.
My other plan was to create an animal mood sensor were animals can be tested for there feelings etc therefore if for example a dog was down you could tell his mood as many dont know how animals are feeling from time to time ,so if he was Really down you could maybe cheer him up or else send him to a vet.

I am open to any advice my questions really are A)Could these ideas work B) Are they stupid C) Which plan should i go for the Carbon monoxide detector or the Animal Mood sensor and why ?

The first plan is about envirmentental,while the second is regarding the animals protection,both plans are great and proves you are a kind hearted and clever student.so I support you to propose the two plans.and I hope all your plans can become true especially the second one.

You could say environment, but there are many cases where two people from very similar backgrounds go on to live very different lives. One pursued and took hold of positive opportunities no matter how limited, but the other succumbed to the prevalent negativity. That can apply to "high class" folks too. Look at the heirs and heiresses who live to party or have overdosed on drugs, and then the other half who take over family business or starts their own. I think subconscious programming plays a very huge role in how we go on to live our lives. We pick up these messages from our enviornment (what we see, hear, and feel), and they can go on to dictate how we process and act on incoming information. So one person has a mother who constantly tells them that they can do anything they set their mind to , this gets programmed, and they unconsciously act accordingly; even when they fail, "something " tells them they’ll overcome so they push through. On the other hand you get someone whose mother often says "You never do anything right!". This person might be less likely to try again after failing, and perceived failure just reinforces the subconscious message. As far as urban youth (of any color), the message tends to be that we don’t have opportunities, and only a handful of us can be successful. That may have been true a long time ago, and there are usually people in our lives from that era. Naturally they do and teach what they saw and were taught about those things. Maybe standing back and taking an objective look at things will help us to positively re-program our subconscious belief systems. Honestly there are more opportunities now than there were years ago, we just need to let go of the old views of those who came before us (who actually were oppressed, so had reason to think the way they did) and realize that we do have opportunities, we just have to go for them. *Subconscious Beliefs *
