Ivar kreuger (1880-1932) was one of the greatest entrepreneurs ever lived! With help of Paul Toll and his “right arm” Krister Littorin, Ivar built up an industrial imperium who consists over 200 companies. In Sweden he owned 50% (in value) of the countrys total industry, and abroad he owned half of the worlds iron-mines, large buildings in Berlin, Paris and many other cities.
It all started in 1908 when Ivar and Paul Toll created: Kreuger & Toll AB, it was a buildingconstruction-company. The company grows and Ivar come into the match-industry, in 1917 he started: Swedish Match AB. This company soon became the largest company in Sweden with 250 factories over the whole world. At a time his company had 75% of the total match-production in the world! During 1925-1930 he gave big loans to several European states. After the stock-crash 1929 Kreugers business started to decline…after 3 years when the stock-market had lost 90% of it´s value Kreuger was bankrupt and shoot? himself in Paris 12 mars 1932. It was Krister Littorin who first find him dead on his bed.
In 1929 Ivar founded the pulp manifacturer SCA who is today one of Swedens largest company. At this year (1929) Kreuger stood on his top…his fortune was estimated to 900 BILLIONS swedish crones (todays value)…and the only person in history who can compares with him in wealth is: John. D. Rockefeller.

There are plenty of well-known celebrity entrepreneurs who got rich by starting their own business from scratch. Did anyone ever get rich who started their business career by purchasing an existing small business? I mean someone famous, like, I can read about them in a book.
Ray Kroc bought Mcdonalds from the Mcdonalds brothers. when they only had a couple of places and made it into what it is today.

im doing a research paper on being a succesful entrepreneur and i need to know that name of an entrepeneur that wasnt a good entrepreneur and that caused him his business.

a business that failed would be the company that made crocs, they really went into bankruptcy, probably about $126 million in debt.
Just ask around town if you know any one that had a businesss that didn’t make the right decisions in the business world.
I want to know your opinion here. I have been facinated by people such as Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page, Sergey Brin and many other famous Internet entrepreneurs who all studied computer science in college. I would like to be just like them infact, except I’d like to do business studies insead of computer science. Is it possible that I could still become an Internet iPhone and facebook application entrepreneur by studying business studies as my choice of a course and has anything like this ever been done before? Good advice would be much appreciated here. Thanks.
The short answer is no.
All successful businesses start with a great idea which becomes the right thing at the right time. The person with the winning idea can often be someone with several failed ideas – the difference between success and failure being the ability to recover and start again.
A Business studies undergraduate won’t give you any great ideas that will help you to build an internet business. It’s a rubbish degree that gives you a little accounting and some poorly developed micro-economics.
On the other hand, an IT undergrad degree isn’t going to help you either. I have one and can tell you that I am not even able to talk the language of friends that have done seriously clever things. It is now an overcrowded field that has become very sophisticated. A very different animal from the one of even 10 years ago.
By far the largest percentage of successful entrepreneurs start with a subject like Engineering or Physics. Then they have a eureka moment, perhaps before they even graduate. Then they get financing. Then maybe 5% of that sub group succeed.
